You know that I can't live without my aprons, especially those made of linen, hemp or thick cotton, I always wear them at home, not only for cooking, but also for carrying out the thousand household activities.
But I like to always be tidy so the apron has to be nice!!!! That is, it has to be able to be worn even when I invite friends to dinner, for example.
This is why I thought of this wonderful apron, which is almost a dress, to be worn over clothes.

This apron is made of a beautiful heavy vintage cotton fabric, hand woven on a loom over a century ago and in excellent condition. These fabrics are becoming increasingly hard to find, but I was lucky enough to purchase this one at a flea market in the Tuscan countryside.

The apron plays on two types of fabric.

The first is a beautiful antique cotton whose panels were hand-made on a loom and were sewn lengthwise by hand with great skill and patience, and the seams are evident on the skirt panels… beautiful, they become an important decorative element.

The second fabric, used for the bodice, laces and pockets, was an ancient mattress fabric, whose design, with irregular red and white stripes, is quite rare to find.

The model is typical of Cecibirbona: it features a bodice to which a rich gathered skirt is attached; the front and back are tied with two side bows.
The same striped fabric forms the two comfortable and roomy pockets sewn onto the skirt.

It is worn from above in a very practical way, even without untying the side bows every time. It can also be worn, like all my aprons, in a way to make it more adherent, as you can see in the photos.

The fit is loose and comfortable, so it can be worn over skirts and trousers, but at the same time it is very graceful and feminine.

Small imperfections and small stains testify to the age of this fabric and speak of its past.

Hand wash with mild soap or machine wash at 30 degrees on delicate cycle. Do not spin. Do not dry in the sun.

One size fits all. You see it worn by me who is 1.64 m tall.
