There are aprons that, as soon as you put them on, make you feel good right away.
Neat, comfortable, at peace with yourself.
That's what I always look for when I create a new design: something that accompanies your days at home, without sacrificing beauty.
That's why I thought of this apron, which is almost a dress, to wear over clothes.
It is made of a beautiful, heavy antique natural butter-colored cotton and hemp fabric, hand-woven on a loom over a hundred years ago and extraordinarily preserved.
These fabrics are now very rare, but I was lucky enough to find it at a flea market in the Tuscan countryside.
The precious detail that characterizes it is represented by its beautiful and large initials embroidered in a beautiful elegant font...EF, belonging to the woman to whom this fabric belonged.
The fabric from which this apron was made was perfectly intact.
After washing, it softened and became even more beautiful, with its evident, irregular and rustic weave, typical of ancient handmade fabrics.
These fabrics were made in panels of fixed width, according to the size of the loom, and then hand-sewn lengthwise to obtain the desired size.
The original hand-sewn seams are still clearly visible in various parts of the apron and tell its story.
The model is typical of Cecibirbona: a bodice with a rich, slightly gathered skirt; front and back tie with two side bows made from vintage striped mattress fabric.
There are two comfortable and roomy pockets.
It slips on easily from above, even without untying the bows every time.
It can be adjusted to be tighter, as you can see in the photos.
The fit is wide and comfortable, suitable to be worn over skirts and trousers, but at the same time feminine and elegant.
Unique piece.
The fabric, over a hundred years old, is cotton and hemp, while the ties are made from an antique kitchen towel.
Small imperfections and slight signs of time bear witness to its age and tell its story.
Hand washable with delicate soap or machine washable at 30° on a delicate cycle.
Do not spin. Do not dry in direct sunlight.
One size fits all.
You can see it worn by me, I am 1.64 m tall.
