I confess that I love aprons, but you already know that, especially those made of linen, hemp, or heavy cotton… I always wear them at home, not just for cooking, but also for the myriad of household chores.
However, I like to always be tidy, so the apron must be beautiful! That means it must be presentable enough to wear even when I invite friends over for dinner, for example.
That's why I thought of this apron, which is almost a dress, to wear over clothes.
This apron is made from a beautiful vintage butter-colored fabric, hand-woven on a loom and excellently preserved. These fabrics are increasingly rare, but I was lucky enough to buy it at a flea market in the Tuscan countryside.
This fabric is embellished with a delightful drawn-thread embroidery, handmade by patient and skilled hands, decorating the hem of the front skirt panel and the pocket.
A precious detail is the monogram, which reproduces the initials of the woman for whom this fabric was originally made, UDC.
The design is typical of Cecibirbona: it features a bodice to which a rich, gathered skirt is attached; the front and back tie together with two side bows. It is worn from the top in a very practical way, even without untying the side bows every time.
It has two comfortable and spacious pockets.
The fit is wide and comfortable, so it can be worn over skirts and trousers, but it is simultaneously very graceful.
One-of-a-kind piece.
The wonderful, sturdy fabric is made of hemp and linen and dates back to the first half of the last century. Small imperfections and slight stains testify to the age of this fabric and speak of its past.
Hand washable or machine washable at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle. Do not spin dry and do not dry in direct sunlight.
With washing, the color will gradually lighten slightly, evidence of the naturalness of the fabric, acquiring the warm color of raw linen.
One size fits all. You can see it worn by me, and I am 1.64 m tall.
